At this workshop, we will discuss storyboard styles, staging the action, finding story beats, creating sequences and more! Everyone must bring one or more short film ideas, with rough sketches of their characters. AgX will provide pencils and paper, storyboard forms, drawing areas and light boxes. At the end of the day, participants will be ready to finish their boards at home with a printed handout of what's been covered.

About the Instructor:

Janet Benn is an Animation Director and Artist who began by studying experimental filmmaking, then was drawn to traditional 2D animation production for TV. She has worked on projects for Nickelodeon (COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG), Children’s Television Workshop (ELECTRIC COMPANY), MTV (BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD) and TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES in New York City. Janet added college teaching to her freelance work and taught 2D and 3D animation at UMass Colleges and many others in the area. Now, as a member of AgX Film Collective, Benn is working on new projects and teaching animation techniques for experimental filmmaking at AgX in Waltham, MA.
