still from Oh, Butterfly (2022) by Sylvia Schedelbauer

AgX is pleased to welcome Berlin-based artist Sylvia Schedelbauer for a screening of four recent short films. Engaging largely with found and archival footage, her films negotiate the space between broader historical narratives and personal, psychological realms through poetic manipulations of the material. (A warning to people with photosensitive epilepsy or sensitivity to strobing lights: this program features a fair amount of flicker.)

Doors open at 7pm, program starts at 7:30

PROGRAM:

Wishing Well (2018), 13 mins
Gushing colors. A time disjointed, yet synchronous.
A transcendent turn, a quest for agency, a reunion with currents of the forest.

Labor of Love (2020), 12 mins
An expanding feeling, unfolding new inflections — forever different, forever changing.

In the Beginning, Woman Was the Sun (2022), 18 mins
A personal homage to Japanese suffragettes and feminists, and to the sun that shines within.

Oh, Butterfly! (2022), 20 mins
An imaginary cassette tape repeats a famous piece of music in self-referential loops.

Total runtime: approx 63 mins
